How come what is acceptable to ECC is unacceptable to EOTC?

Here is a Tigrai Online article by a certain Dilwenberu Nega defending the Patriarch Paulos Statue, criticizing the Holy Synod that it decided the demolition of the statue. Taking the identity of the writer and the way he presented the religious agenda, our Church problem might twisted to an unnecessary line beyond the scope of the Church. People who are not related to the Church who created the problem started to make their ideologies Orthodox and travel all the way to Egyptian desert to substantiate their motives.

(Tigrai Online):- Over the last week a confraternity of scare-mongerers were in a state of frenzy, following reports that the gaggle of 'Princes of the Church' who make up EOTC's Governing Body, The Holy Synod, has decided to demolition Patriarch Paulos's monument which stands outside the precinct of the Church of Medehanealem in Bole, as well as, the removal from church compounds of Millennum billboards showing the Patriarch in deep prayer mode.

If the reports that have so far appeared on Addis Ababa's Amharic bi-weekly, Reporter, and US based anti-Patriarch Paulos web-site deje selam, prove to be correct, I then excercise my weright not to say amen to the resolution, as well as question the virtue and moral authority of the Holy Synodd. I, however, do so with a great sense of humility and I hope the Fathers of our Mother Church would forgive in giving vent to my frustrations with EOTC, and with my anger and dismay at seeing the Holy Synod being plagued by double standards. On a personal level, however, I take pride of the fact that I continue to excercise my filial obligations with everyone who is anyone in our Church's hierrachy.
My opposition to the resolution stems from my justifiable stand point that the Holy Synod must not be seen applying double standards in dealing with temporal matters. After all, is not a monument - either of the living or the dead used for strictly non-worship purposes - a purely temporal affair? If the Princes of the Church - having declining past umpteen requests by the general public for "the Church to apologize for turning a blind eye and a deaf ear" when the entire population was subjected to misery under the Derg's 17 years misrule - now decide to be the moral voice of society, well and good. All I am asking Their Eminencies is to accept that "what is sauce to the goose is sauce to the gander" and to proceed by calling on the EPDRF Government "to remove the image of Colonel Mengistu Haile Mariam from the Statute of Martyrs' Monument in Addis. How can they forget - forget the mayhem and death of individual Ethiopians - that it was Colonel himself who had ordered the death by strangulation of EOTC's fourth Patriarch, H.H.Abuna Theopheos I? How can the air-bombardment of the ancient and historical church of Adwa Selassie be allowed to slip from the contours of their memories?
That is why I am prompted to question the virtue which, on the one hand, allows Their Emminencies to order the demolition of Abuna Paulos' monument, and on the other had, forbids them from utteingr a single word on the removal of the statute of the man who had killed their Brother-in-Christ in 1976. Numero uno double standard!
If they have reached the descion based on either the Creed of EOTC or the Word of God, let Their Emminencies bring it on so that we, the meek-hearted, shall henceforth stop from back-sliding. I have raked my brains over the past couple of days in hot pursuit of whether or not building a monument as a "love gift" to a living holy father constitutes idolatory. I have consulted a range of opinions from deacons right up to Bishops, I have taken counsel from my own spiritual mentor, but all to no avail. For no one would tell me for certain that it contravens the Word of God. I also quickly rummaged through pages both in the Old and New Testamens, but could not find anything that prohibits the building of a statute for of a living father for non-worship purposes
Eureka! Finally my search on google directed me to a tangible proof. In churches which are in communian with EOTC, the bulding of a statute for a living Holy Father is very much work in progress. H.H. Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria, and Patriarch of the Holy See of St Mark, the Evangelist, is a man who is very much loved and revered Holy Father both in Egypt and in Ethiopia where EOTC is in communian wilth the Egyptian Coptic Church (ECC). EOTC fellowship in Addis Ababa showered Pope Shenouda III with huge outpourings of love and respect when he paid an official visit to Ethiopia at the invitation of his counter part, H.H. Patriarch Paulos in 2007. Relations between EOTC and ECC today is at an all time high. Nearly all the works of Pope Shenouda III are translated into Amharic. We, therefore, have every reason to conclude that what would be sacred to ECC would automatically be deemed sacred to EOTC and vice versa. If building a statute for a living Holy Father was deemed idolaterous, believe you me that there would be no way - come hell or high-water - that H.H. Pope Shenouda III would go ahead and sanction his spirutal sons and daughters to build his statutes. As you can see for yourself by loging to this web-link below, huge statutes of Pope Shenouda III are built a shout away from Egypt's most holiest of monasteries. Then, what's all this hue and cry over what is to all intents and purposes a no-brainer? Might it be covetousness? Who knows.
I am prepared to buy the resolution of removing Patriarch Paulos' billboard if and only if someone can convince me that the presence of a bill board is against the Word of God or the custom and tradition of EOTC. What kind of custom or tradition, might I ask, allows the image of a person to adorn the ceiling of a church? Addis Ababa's Trinity Cathedral in Arat Kilo is the epi-center of most of EOTC's great and colourful ceremonials. It is, there where our Bishops are consecrated and where our Patriarchs are enthroned. However, when you gaze your eyes at the ceiling, what you see is not the portrait of the image of the Risen Christ or the Blessed Mary, but that of Ethiopia's last King, Haile Selassie I. He might have built the Cathedral; but so have today's nouveau-riche built even bigger ones. The former King was the constitutional "Defender of the Faith of EOTC." Yes, Haile Selassie did so many great deeds including securing Home Rule and the right to appoint her own Holy Father to EOTC from ECC. But the bottom line remains that he is neither God or Mesiah, and, therefore, the church must not allow a church ceiling to be used to glorify individuals. That is the moral dilemma that faces the Fathers of our EOTC now. Do they have the courage and moral authority to apply the same standards as they have have used to pass judgment on their Brother-in-Christ? Or are they going to give in to socio-economic expediency and practice double standards which is totally unacceptable in the Kingdom of God?
Last but not least, you are, of course, at liberty to reach your own descion on the merit and demerit of the statute, but of one essential element you cannot afford not to realise that the whole issue of the statute is the camouflage 'dark knights in the church' are applying to oust a Brother in Christ whom God had raised from humble beginnigs and who is using him profusely to prepare EOTC fit for the challenges of the 21st century.

I hope our fathers looked such arguments before they decided to abolished patriarch Paul's monument. Let's wait and see what our father answer for such arguments. I hope a person who write a polite good arguments supporting the monument will get response soon.

And, please do not lie: you said "I have consulted a range of opinions from deacons right up to Bishops..." Can you name a single bishop, let alone bishops? I say this because we all know now that all members of the Synod but the Patriarch have signed the minutes that includes the decision to demolish the statue.

ለደጀሰላሞችና ፓትርያርክ መሆን ላማራቸው ጳጳሳት ጉዋደኞቻቸው አይን ገላጭ ትምህርት ነው።
ለነገሩ ምክንያት ፍለጋ እንጂ ይሄን አጥትውት አይመስለኝም። ምክንያቱም ባደግንበት አብያተክርስቲያናት ሁሉ የቀድሞው ንጉስና (ጃንሆይ) እና የቀድሞው ፓትርያርክ (አቡነ ቲዎፍሎስ) ስእሎች በትልቁ መቅደስ ላይ ተስለው ይታያሉ!! ታድያ ምነው ያቡነ ጳውሎስ ላይ ብቻ አይናቸው ደም ለበሰ?

thank you to host such constructive adias on our church, even though there are some reminence of protestants here and there comment about our church. Please step aside and let us discuss about our monther not yours, you and your friend who post his opinion on tigray on line have your own agenda which we do not want to know about. You may be comment or insult each other on that, I beg you and your fellow "menafikan" to stay away and mind your business. Believe it or not our church was created by his holy blood and flesh, it will not fell, it will raise from the ashe as it has been during Mehamediawin and Judith time.
Trust me when I say that, our church victory will not be far away God has his hands on it at all time.

I am, the church member, I have a great respect for H.H Abuna Paulos. I believe that he did a lot of good things in our church, Having saying that it doesn't mean he doesn't have a lot of short comings.

Dear brother Dilwenberu, having status in "Coptic church " it doesn't justify to erect H.H Abuna Paulos statue because as we aware of we have a lot of similarity with Coptic church, however it doesn't mean in each and every thing we are the same.

Let me mention at least one thing when copts receive communion the precious body of Jesus is not covered however our church does cover it. Our church has a reason to do that. I am trying to say here if some thing acceptable in Coptic Church it doesn't mean we have to accept it.

EMMM....the article on the tigrai online shows the true nature of Abune pawlos...and all thoes who support him. I do not want to comment for all those non spiritual rather politically and ethnocentric views of the writer. It is ringing a bell to awake those of you under EOTC to stand for the freedom of the country and of course for the cleansing of the church from ethnocentric ppl who use the church as under cover and an ideology to their tyrannical rule on the country. The freedom of the country means the freedom of the church…and the freedom of the Ethiopian people at large. The Ethiopian people are under sage…we are under the rulers who do not really care for the lives of the ppl who are the hand crafts of God in His own Image .We human beings are created by the hands of God with his likings. God created us equal and to use the resource of the land equally but those who came from tigrai came to be the ruler of everything and all thing including the church, mosques and worships houses ,business centers, the army and the political and civil offices in large. All the ppl of the church try to stand together with all other brothers and sisters of the beloved country mother land Ethiopia. You may ignore my comment feeling that it is political…for some of you the spiritual person is neutral from politics but it is not really what it is. I love my country and my Ethiopian ppl this loves is stemmed from the lesson I got from ETOC church .The church made me to love my country. The church made me to love my ppl…so it is just what the church gave me …I did not get it from anywhere. The fire of love that burns in my heart for my country give me a rage to strive for the freedom of my country. Do not full ur self’s brothers and sisters of the church…we are under strong tyrannical and ethnocentric rulers…now you guys seem to test how it looks like when it comes to the very center of the church. How you guys forget when hundreds of ppl murdered in the streets of Addis Ababa….thousands are imprisoned with no crime in their hand…millions are starved ….tens of thousands are eating food from trash….etc. let us stand together believers of the church it is time to be united and committed. Dear Dilwonberu,this is religious issue ,neither political nor ethnic issue.Ethiopian orthodox church ,as brothers and sisters said ,is not copy of coptic church. For instance we differ from coptic church in teaching of contaceptive methods .

We are the second to Jerusalem to accest christianity and beyond that in the old testament too Ethiopia is a praised country by God for many reasons.The true copy of the book of Henok found in Ethiopia and many more not necessary to mention here.
To talk reality Abune Paulos may have done many good things ,but not only the issue of the statue ,but many unexpected from Holy father have been done so far by Abune Paulos.Unless for the equality of the Holy See,Abune Paulos and Pope Shinod III are not comparable.Abune Paulos is fruitless for many obivious reasons. On the other hand see the versatile deeds of the Holy Father Pope Shinod III.The deeds talk themselves.Moreover Pope Shinod III's statue is not erected without the Holy Synod's agreement.
Pope Shinod III,his holiness,is not authocratic merely talking political issues on every occassion.The Holy Synod is the top level authority of our church.What so ever ,if Abune Paulos is really a good father of the church he would have abided by the Holy Synod and ofcourse by the law of the church.

ከሞተ እረፍት በኋላ ሐውልት ይሠራላቸው የሚል ሥራዓተ ቤተ ክርስቲያን አለን ወይ?

2ኛ. አሁን በሕይወት ላሉት የግብፅ ቤተክርስቲያን ፓትርያርክ ለብጹዕ ወቅዱስ አቡነ ሸኖዳ የተሥራላቸው ሐውልት አለ ይባላል ይህስ ከሆነ እኛም ሆንን ቅዱስ ሲኖዶሳችን የፓትርያሪካችን ሐውልት ይፍረስ ስንል መሥረታዊ ምክንያታችን ምንድን ነው?ይህ ትያቄ የብዙ ሰዎች ጥያቄ ነውና መልስ ሊሆን የሚችል ነገር ካለ እባካችሁ አንድ በሉን።

"Ethiopia's last King, Haile Selassie" built many churches! But there was much problem. And we should not continue like this. For example, in Bahir Dar Giorgis church, there was God's and St.Mary statue/like catholics/, now it is changed by a picture. So let's have such vision to make correction on faults.

First of all, your article is highly opinionated with ethnocentric ideology, no one wishing the good of the church, will never like to see mixed with church matters. If you were really concerned about the church, you wouldn't have intertwined that.

Second, you mentioned that this was done for other fathers of our church before. Here, I would like to tell you that neither H.H. Abune Teophilus nor H. H. Abune Basilius erected a statue for themselves during their life time. It was after their departure from this world. None of them have been recorded as doing that. Moreover, it was not done by confiscating money from each congregation by force; rather it was done by some people's willingness as Jacob did for Rahel after her death. The case of H. H. Pope Shenouda III is also alike in this regard. He didn't order any of the dioceses under his command to contribute money to erect his statue for 500 years. The people did that because they love him.They love him because he happened to be a real father, who thinks, works, prays and preaches to the church all the time. He is always with the people for the people serving the God of his church by shepherding his flock. In addition, he didn't perpetuate a system of feudalism and anarchy by playing a dictator. He has never claimed himself to be above the Holy Synod of the church. So, it is not something to compare with. What kind of vanity would surpass erecting a statue for one man while there are thousands of churches suffering from financial problems? While there are millions of hungry people around? While there are thousands of students of the traditional schools of the church are migrating to the cities looking for bread? How?

The issue of the billboard is no different. Everyone around our church knows that the managerial decadence is attaining its peak. We are high above on the scale of depravity. This all has been perpetuated by His Holiness Abune Paulos' dictatorial administration which saturated most of the managerial posts by nepotism. This nepotism again gave space to cohorts who pursue their personal worldly benefits. The statue is not just statue it is the symbol of anarchy, feudalism and dictatorship in the church, which every child of the church would like to be uprooted.

Those people who erected the statue by plundering money from every possible congregation. Furthermore, they were also planning to buy the Patriarch a jet, again by forcing congregations of Addis Ababa to contribute thousands of Birr until the end of this Ethiopian year. Do you call that Christianity? Your ideas would have been right if the Holy Synod had decided based on you ethnocentric and divisive politics. But fortunately that is not the case. The Holy Synod decided this because it is against the church’s canon.

Anyway, we would like to be demolished not only the statue and the billboards but also all the anarchy and dictatorship in our church that served a fertile ground to all that. We are against the statue not because H. H. Abune Paulos is from somewhere in Ethiopia. No! We know him only as one of our fathers whom the church gave us to be our shepherd. But we would like him to be reprimanded for all the anomalies created by him and his cohort.

Are siding for the Church or for Abuna Paulos? If we are dealing with individuals we cant come to ONE point, that will diverge to ethno politics.
ONE thing that will bring us to UNITY is to QUESTION ideas on their value regarding EOTC. If you are saying on the individual Fathers of the Holy Synod, you can say yours and we ours. But if you take the 'Miliate Gubae',which is being guided by the Spirit of God, then we are talking about the wellbeing of The Church of Christ.
How dare you are speaking against The Spirit of God Who is leading The Holy Synod?
How dare you tried trigger to attack The Fathers on behalf of The Apostles and the congregation, just like Ananias and Sapphira did before 1960 years ago?

Please rethink it and ask better what is Holy Synod, EOTC cannons, the role of the Patriarch and the other fathers etc, before twisting the agenda.

Just because we are in communion does not mean our ሥርዓት is the same. In EOC tradition, living patriarchs do not have statues. Patriarch Paulos knows this and should have been sensitive to both the Tradition and membership of the Church. The fact that he did not act to prevent the erection of this statue is probably what concerns people the most. It looks as if he did not care what people think. That is the biggest concern of most people, maybe more than the statue itself.

First of all, a wrong is a wrong whether it is done by Egyptians or Ethiopians or Israelites. The first basis of your argument says “The Egyptians are right whatsoever they do.” Were they right when they were reluctant for hundreds of years to anoint our own patriarch? According to your argument they were right because they are just Egyptians.

To my opinion, erecting a three dimensional statue in our church is undermining the blood of those martyrs who gave their lives during the reign of Susenyos. Moreover, what the architecture eminence of Lalibela tells us is to carry the cross above us like Betegiorgis. Neither Lalibela nor YimrhaneKrstos- with all their incredible architectural achievements- did erect a statue either to themselves or to their siblings. Their aspiration was to build something which will stand in reverence to Our God, Our Lord and Our Savior Jesus Christ.

Besides, don’t we have thousands of churches begging the central administration for financial support? Don’t we have thousands of clergy just out from the traditional schools of the church migrating to the urban places like Addis and Adama Nazreth? Are not we having the traditional schools collapsing from lack of financial support? Do you know how many people who are baptized by the church to be children of God sleep on the street just in front of the patriarchal palace and around the statue at Bole Medhanialem?

Such a crazy and cruel idea only springs from the spiritual indolence that led us to structural decadence of the church.

It is, in turn this structural decadence which led us to the dictatorial management in the church. Since last years constellation of the Holy Synod the decadence and dictatorship started to attain its culmination. All the bountiful award ceremonies by the Addis Ababa diocese that ended up building a statue to H. H. symbolize this. Hence, neither the statue nor the billboards are simple materials to the denizens of the church. Instead, they are the symbols of vanity, dictatorship and structural decadence.
You know what H. H. Pope Shenouda would have done, if there risen up such criticisms against his deeds? He would have given direct orders to demolish it and gone to some monastery. He wouldn’t have sought to defend his statue by traveling looking for statues to confirm his righteousness. He wouldn’t have taken it as some kind of war which he aspires to sit on a chair of the triumphant “የባለ ድል ወንበር”. He would have accepted what so ever was decided by the Holy Synod.

The second axiom of your argument says the Holy Synod castigated and rebuked H. H. because he is from somewhere in the corner of the country. That is where you try to intertwine ethnocentric politics with matters of the church. You also tried to justify this by mentioning all the caustic and demoniac deeds of the past government in which none of our fathers had been part. Moreover, it looks you are trying to label Our Patriarch as one of the combatants against the former regime. Was he? I don’t understand that. Furthermore, you didn’t put any proof for the Holy Synod to be against the ethnic group of where the Patriarch came from. You didn’t do that because you don’t have any. The church doesn’t care whether a person is from North or South, East or West. What matters to our church is the spiritual integrity of the person to stand for her Dogma and canons.

Lastly, anyone should know that the structural decadence which our church has been in for many years is useful to neither the government nor the people (let alone to the church). If we don’t start acting today following the path paved by the decisions of the Holy Synod, it will be inevitable to see with our own eyes the fate of the Catholic Church in the 16th century. Our fathers have started to pave the way to structural reformation and all of us are going to be part of that reformation no matter what. Everyone who aspires beyond his self should be part of this reformation.

ስለዚህ በቤተርስትያን ጉዳይ መወየየቱ ሃሳብ ለሃሰብ መቀያየሩ ለእድገት ኣንድ መንገድ ሆኖ ዘረኝነትን እነደ መሳርያ በመጠቀም ሰዉር ዓላማቸዉን ለማሳካት የሚሮጡ ሰዎች ብቻ ቢፈቀድላችዉ እና ማን መሆናችዉን ኣዉቀን ጊዜ ባናጠፋላቸዉ። እዉነቱ ግን ኣባቶቻችን ተስዓቱ ቅዱሳንን በክብር የተቀበሉ ወራሪ ሃይልን ኣሳፍረዉ የመለሱ ዘረኝነትን በማየት ኣልነበረም በዘረኝነት እማ ሁሉም የዉጭ ዜጋ እንዳዉም ከኣንድ ኣገር የመጡ ሁላ ነበሩ (ከሮም ፃዲቁ አበታችን ኣቡነ ኣረጋዉ እና ፋሽሽቱ የጣልያን ወታደር)። ታድያ እኛ የማን ልጆች ነን ነዉ ጥያቄዉ የኣባቶቻችን ካልሆን ጎራችንን እንለይ። ኣቡነ ጳዉሎስ ትግራዋይ ስለ ሆኑ የትግራይ ህዝብ ይቀበሏቸዋል እንዴ? ኣክሱም ትመስክር ማይጨዉ መቐለ ዓዲግራት ይመስክሩ ለምን ኣማራ ስለሆኑ ኣይደለም መስተካከል ያለበት ጉዳይ ከቤተ ክርስትያናችን ኣስትምህሮ ኣንፃር ስላለ እንጂ። የትግራይ ህዝብ ዘረኝነት እና የሃይማኖት ቀኖና ለየብቻ መስተናገድ እንዳለበት ስለሚያዉቅ ብቻ እንጂ።

ወገኖቼ ኣንድ ነገር ሊያስማማን የሚገባ ጉዳይ ኣለ ዓላማችን “ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋህዶ ቤተክርስትያን ስርዓቷ እና ትዉፍቷን ጠብቃ እንዴት ወደትዉልድ ትሸጋገር”!!!!! ካልሆነ በምንም በምንም ብትመጡ የሌላ ወገን ናችሁና ቀጥሉበት እኛ እንዳንተኛ ታስፈልጉናላችሁ ባንፈልጋችሁም ትንቢት የተነገረላችሁ ኣሳሳቾች በመሆናችሁ ኣይቀርልንም እና። እኛ ግን ኣንድ ነን የኣንድነት ምሳሌ ነን የሃዋርያዉ የቅዱስ ጳዉሎስ ልጆች ነን “እኔ የኬፋ እኔ የጳዉሎስ … ነኝ ኣትበሉ ክርስቶስ ተከፍሏልን?...” ብሎ ኣስተምሮናል እና።
ኣሁን ክርስትያኖች በቤተክርስትያን ዙርያ ያለዉን ጉዳይ በሚወያዩበት ሰዓት ዘረኝነትን ምን ኣመጣዉ ሰዉ በዚህ ይፈራል ነዉ ኣይደል የለም የኢትዮጰያ ህዝብ እኮነዉ! በማንም ጭራቅ ብሎገር አንድነቱን የሚያጣ ህዝብ እኮ ኣይደለም ምርጫ 97 እኮ የኢሃዴግ እና የተቃዋሚዎች ድራማ ሆኖ ነዉ የቀረዉ እንደነሱ እቅድ እማ እንደ ኬንያዉያን በገጀራ ለማጨፋጨፍ ነበረ።
ኣሁንም ቢሆን ሃዉልቱ ፖሰተሩ ተነሳ ኣልተነሳ መወያየት ሃሳብለሃሳብ መቀያየር የተገባ ነገር እያለ ኣንድ አቡነ ጳዉሎስ እና የቅዱስ ሲኖዶስ ኣባላት መካከል የተፈጠረዉን የሃሳብ ልዩነት እንደቤተክርስትያን ልጅነታችን ከየትኛዉ ወገን መሆን እንዳለብን መወሰን ከተቸገርን ችግር ኣለብን ለማለት እደፍራለሁ። ስንት ሊቃዉን ባሉበት ኣገር በዚች ትንሽ ጉዳይ ላይ ዘረኝነትን ለማስረግ መሞከር እጅግ ያሳዝናል !!!!
የኦርተዶክስ ወገን ያልሆናችሁግን ያገሬ ሰዉ እነዲህ ይላችኋል “ሕንባሻ ያ ዘይረኸበስ ፅብሑለይ በለ” ኣምበሻን ሳያገኝ ወጥ ኣርጉልኝ ኣለ እንደማለት ነዉ ። መጀመርያ ልጅነቱ መች ያዛችሁት እና ነዉ በቤተክርስትያን ጉዳይ ላይ ለመፈትፈት የምትሞክሩት! ድሮዉስ ስሙ ይመርሆ ሃበግብሩ “ሐላፊ መንገዲ” ኣላፊ መነደኛ እንጂ መች የቤተክርስትያን ልጆች ሆናችሁ እና።

ለድል ወንበሩ እና ለመሰሎቹ፡-
መጠነ ሰፊ የሆነ ማብራሪያ ለመስጠት የሞከረው ድል ወንበሩ ስለ ሐውልቱ በተቀኘው የእንግሊዝኛ ቅኔ ኃይለሥላሴን እና ሌሎች ነገሥታትን፣ አቡነ ቴዎፍሎስን እና መንግሥቱ ኃይለማርያምን፣ ከዚያም ወጣ ብሎ የግብፁን ፓትርያርክ አቡነ ሺኖዳን በመጥቀስ በተለያየ ጊዜ የተሠራላቸውን ስዕላትና ሐውልት ካየውም ከሰማውም እንዲሁም ከጉግል ውስጥ ገብቶ ከጎለጎለው ማስረጃ በመነሣት እስኪ መልሱልኝ የሚል ጥያቄ አቅርቧል። እንዲያውም የሚያሳምነኝ ካለ እኔም የይፍረስ ስምምነቱን አስተሳሰብ ለመቀበል ዝግጁ ነኝ ይለናል። አንዳንዶችም በሰጡት አስተያየት የሰማዕቱን የቅዱስ አቡነ ጴጥሮስን ሐውልት ስንቀበል እንዴት የአቡነ ጳውሎስን ሐውልት ለመቀበል ልባችንን እናከብዳለን? በማለት ቅዱስ ሲኖዶሳችን መክሮ እና ዘክሮ ያስተላለፈውን ውሳኔ ለመቀልበስ የተደረገውን ሙከራ ይበል የሚያሰኝ ነው፤ እሰይ ድል ወንበሩ፤ አበጀህ፤ ደግ አድርገኻል በማለት አሞካሽተውታል። አሁን ጥያቄው እኛ ማንን እንስማ፤ ድልወንበሩን ወይስ የኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ ቅዱስ ሲኖዶስን? መልሱን ለአንባብያን እተውና እኔ ጥቂት ከድል ወንበሩ ነጋ አስተያየት ጋር እሞግታለሁ።
በመጽሐፈ ምሳሌ አንበጣዎች ንጉሥ የላቸውም፤ ሁላቸውም ግን በመልካም ሥርዓት ይሄዳሉ የሚል ቃል ተጽፎ እናገኛለን። ንጉሥ የሌላቸው በመልካም ሥርዓት ሲሄዱ ንጉሥና መሪ ያላቸው በሥርዓት ለመሄድ እንዴት አልቻሉም? በእናንተ ዘንድ ሁሉ በሥርዓቱና በአግባቡ ይሁን ማለትስ ምን ማለት ነው? የነገን አላውቀውም እንጂ እስከ አሁን ባለው የቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱ አካሄድ ቀኖና ቤተክርስቲያንን ማጽደቅና መሻር የሚችሉት በሲኖዶስ ወንበር የተቀመጡት ጳጳሳት እንጂ በፓርላማ ወንበር የተቀመጡት አመራሮች እንዳልሆኑ የአደባባይ ምሥጢር ነው።
ሐውልቱን ማን አሠራው?
የፕትርክናውን ወንበር ከያዙ ጀምሮ አንዳች ነገር አልሠሩም ለማለት ሳይሆን የፓትርያርኩ ገድል እና ትሩፋት ሞልቶ በመትረፉ፣ መልካም ሥራቸው በዓለም በመዳረሱ፣ ዕርቀ ሰላም የማምጣት ሙከራቸው ስኬታማ በመሆኑ ቅዱስ ሲኖዶሱ ሐውልት ይገባቸዋልና እናቁምላቸው በማለት በቃለ-ጉባኤ አጽድቆ እና ሥራቸውን በየአብያተ ክርስቲያኑ አስመስክሮ በዚህ ስፍራ ለስማቸው መጠሪያ እና መታሰቢያ እንዲሆን ቦታ መርጦላቸው የተተከለ ሐውልት አይደለም። ፓትርያርኩን ፓትርያርክ ብሎ የሾመ ቅዱስ ሲኖዶስ በመሆኑ በሃይማኖት መሪነታቸው እንዲህ ይደረግላቸው ማለት የሚችለው ቅዱስ ሲኖዶሱ ነው እንጂ ጥቂት ጥቅመኞች መሆን አይገባቸውም። እንወደድ ብለውና የቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱን ሀብት ለመመዝበር እንዲያመቻቸው መንገድ ለማበጀት ሲሉ ዛሬን እንጂ ነገን ሳይመለከቱ እኔ ከሞትኩ ሰርዶ አይብቀል በሚል ዘዬ የተከሉትን እውቅና የሌለውን ሥራ ቅዱስ ሲኖዶስ በፓትርያርኩ ሐውልት ቀንቶ ሳይሆን በሥርዓተ ቤተ ክርስቲያን እይታ ፈቃጅ እና ከልካይ ማን እንደሆነ ለማሳየት እና ይኼን ቅጥ ያጣ አካሄድ መልክ ለማስያዝ ነው። በሚሊኒየሙ ጊዜ በየአብያተ ክርስቲያኑ ለተሰቀለው ምስል ቅዱስ ሲኖዶሱ ያላጸደቀው እና መሆን አለበት ያላለው ጉዳይ መሆኑን ቢያምንበትም ለፓትርያርኩ ካስደሰተና ውዳሴ ከንቱ ካላሰኘባቸው ይሁን ብለው አልፈውት እንጂ ይኼም ቢሆን በቅዱስ ሲኖዶስ ያልጸደቀ ጉዳይ ነው። አማካሪዎቻቸው አብረዋቸው ያሉት ጳጳሳት ሳይሆኑ በምንም የማይመስሏቸው ግለሰቦች ናቸውና ለምን ለጸሎት ተንበርክከው ፎቶግራፍ አንሥተንዎት የሰማይ ስባሪ የሚያህል ምስልዎት በየአብያተ ክርስቲያኑ አይሰቀልም ያሉ እንወደድ ባዮች እንጂ ሲኖዶስ መክሮበት አይደለም። የትናንቱ ምስል ዛሬ ወደ ሐውልትነት መልኩን ለውጦ ብቅ ሲልና በቤቱ ሰው የለም እንዴ እስከሚያስብል በማነጋገሩ ቅዱስ ሲኖዶስ ውሳኔውን መክሮበት እና አምኖበት ተፈጻሚ የሚሆንበትን መንገድ አሳይቷል። በእርግጥ ምነው በእንቁላሉ ጊዜ በቀጣሽኝ እንዳለው ሌባ በመጀመርያ በእንቁላሉ ጊዜ ስለተሰቀለው ምስል ሲኖዶሱ በስብሰባው ጊዜ ጠቅሶ ቢሆን ኖሮ የዛሬው ድንጋይ ያለቦታው ተተክሎ አያነጋግረንም ነበር። ምሳላቸውስ ቢሆን በቅዳሴ ሰዓት መሥዋዕት ሲያሳርጉ እና ሕዝቡን ሲባርኩ ቢሆን ምን ነበረበት? ግለሰቦቹ ሊወደዱ የሚገባቸው እንደእነርሱ ፍላጎት ሲሄዱላቸው በመሆኑ እዚችጋ ተንበርከኩና አንድ ፎቶግራፍ፣ እዛችጋ ደገፍ በሉና ሌላ አንድ ፎቶግራፍ፣ እጅዎትን ከፍ አድርገው ዘርጉ እና ተጨማሪ ፎቶግራፍ ተነሡ በማለት በጸሎት ተመስጦ ውስጥ የሌለ ምስል መነሣትም ባላስፈለገ ነበር። በሌላ መልኩ ደግሞ ደም ለሚፈስበት ጦርነት እንኳን ምክር እና ክተት አዋጅ ያስፈልገዋል። እንዲህ ይሁን ተብሎ ውጊያ የሚጀመረው ፓርላማው ወይም ደግሞ የሚመለከተው ክፍል አጽድቆት እንጂ እንዲሁ አንድ መሪ ከጥቂት ሰዎች ጋር ተነጋግሮ ተዋግቼ መጣሁ የሚለው ጉዳይ አይደለም። ለመጥፎም ይሁን ለጥሩ ነገር የሚመለከታቸው ክፍሎች ይነጋገሩበታል። መንፈስ ቅዱስ የሚመራውን የቅዱስ ሲኖዶስ ስብሰባ ውድቅ ለማድረግ ሌሎች ነገሥታትን መጥቀስ አስፈላጊነቱ ጠቀሜታ ያለው አይመስለኝም። ይቀጥላል።

ለአንዲት ቅድስት ለሆነች ለኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ ቤተክርስቲያን እና ለቅድስት አገራችን ለኢትዮጵያ ብለው ግምባራቸውን ባለማጠፋቸው ኦርቶዶክሱ ብቻ ሳይሆን እስላሙም ጀግንነታቸውን መስክሮላቸው፣ የዓለም ሕዝብ ታሪካቸውን አውርቶላቸው እና ዝናቸውን (ገድላቸውን) ጽፎላቸው፤ የይገባል ስምምነት ተደርሶ በመሐል አዲስ አበባ ሐውልታቸው ቆሟል። በእርግጥም በዚህ የሚያንጎራጉር ኢትዮጵያዊ የለም፤ አቡነ ጳውሎስም አንዳች ቃል አይተነፍሱም። አሁንም በቅርቡ ኢትዮጵያ ብቻ ሳትሆን ዓለም መስክሮላቸው ሐውልታቸው በስማቸው በተሰየመው ቤተ ክርስቲያን ቆሞላቸዋል። ይኽ ግን በገድላቸው እና በትሩፋታቸው ተመስክሮላቸው ያገኙት እንጂ በድብቅብቅ የተሠራ ጉዳይ አለመሆኑን ልብ ይሏል።
የግብፅ ኮፕቲክ ቤተክርስቲያን፡-
ፓትርያርክ አቡነ ሺኑዳ በሚኖሩበት አገር ሐውልት ቆሞላቸው ከሆነ በእርግጠኝነት ያ ሐውልት የቆመው ቅዱስ ሲኖዳሳቸው ስለሥራቸው መታሰቢያ ይሆን ዘንድ አምኖበት በገሐድ እንጂ በእኛ ዘንድ እንደተተከለው ሐውልት ጥቅመኞች ያደረጉት አይመስለኝም። ደግሞስ አቡነ ሺኑዳ ሐውልት ስላቆሙ እኔስ ከማን አንሼ ነው ሐውልት የማይቆምልኝ ይባላል እንዴ? እንደዛ ከሆነስ ሰው የሚስማማውን ነገር ብቻ ነው እንዴ ከአንድ ሰው መማር የሚገባው? ለምን አቡነ ሺኑዳ ከመቶ በላይ መጻሕፍት ጽፈዋል እኔስ እንዴት አልጽፍም በማለት መጻሕፍትን አልጻፉም? ለምን አቡነ ሺኑዳ በየሳምንቱ ረቡዕ ቀን ጉባኤ በመዘርጋት የኦርቶዶክሳውያኑን ሃይማኖታዊም ሆነ ማኅበራዊ ጥያቄዎቻቸውን እንደሚመልሱት አቡነ ጳውሎስ ለመመለስ አልተዘጋጁም? ለምን አቡነ ሺኑዳ ሕዝቤ ተገደለ በማለት መንግሥት ፊት ቀርበው እምባቸውን እንዳነቡት አቡነ ጳውሎስ ወገኔ አለቀ በማለት መንግሥት ፊት ቀርበው አላለቀሱም? ለምን አቡነ ሺኑዳ ተቀማጭነታቸውን ገዳም እንዳደረጉት አቡነ ጳውሎስ ለጸሎት ተስማሚ የሆነውን ቦታ መርጠው ተቀማጭነታቸውን ገዳም አላደረጉም? ለምን አቡነ ሺኑዳ የግብፅን ገዳማት ብዙ ሚሊዮን ብር በማፍሰስ ሲሠሩ እና ቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱን አሥራት ከሕዝቡ በማስወጣት ሲያሳድጉ አቡነ ጳውሎስ ይኼን ግብራቸውን ወስደውላቸው ቤተ ክርስቲያንን አላሰደጉም? ወ.ዘ.ተ. ስለዚህም ድልወንበሩ ለዚህ ጥያቄም እራስህን አዘጋጅተህ ጽሑፍን ጻፍ እንጂ ግብፅ ስትስማማ እኛ እንዴት አንስማማም ብለህ አትንገረን። ሰማዕቱ አቡነ ጴጥሮስ ጣልያን የመጣው ሃይማኖት ሊያጠፋ ነው በማለት አልገዛም ሲሉ ያንጊዜ እኮ የግብፁ አቡነ ቄርሎስ ተስማምተው እና ፈቅደው አቡነ ጴጥሮስም እንዲስማሙ መክረዋቸዋል። ታዲያ ግብፅ ተስማምታለች ብለው አቡነ ጴጥሮስ ቢስማሙ ኖሮ የዛሬው ኦርቶዶክስነት እና ኢትዮጵያዊነት ከነሙሉ ክብሩ ከየት ይገኝ ነበር? አሁንም ግብፅ ለአቡነ ሺኑዳ ሐውልት ስላቆመችላቸው የእኛ ሲኖዶስም ማቆም የለበትም። ደግሞም ማቆም ቢገባውም ተስማምቶበት እና ፈቅዶ ያደርገዋል እንጂ ከላይ እንደገለጽኩት ጥቂት ጥቅመኞች በር ዘግተው ተማክረው ያደረጉትን አበጃችሁ በማለት መቀበል አይገባውም። በመሆኑም አካሄዱ ሥርዓት የሌለው መሆኑን ተረዳ። ይቀጥላል፡፡


የመንግሥቱ ኃይለማርያም ሐውልት፡-
ቅዱስ ሲኖዶስ ስለ መንግሥቱ ኃይለማርያም ሐውልት አያገባውም። ለዚህ ብሎም ስብሰባ መያዝ ያለበት አይመስለኝም። ስለዚህ የሚመለከተው ፓርላማ ጉዳዩን ሊነጋገርበት ይችላል።
ብፁዕ ወቅዱስ አቡነ ቴዎፍሎስ
ብፁዕ ወቅዱስ አቡነ ቴዎፍሎስ ደም የፈሰሳቸው ሰማዕት ናቸው። እንደሌሎቹ ጳጳሳት እና ፓትርያርክ አገር ለቅቀው ወደ አሜሪካ መምጣት ከብዶአቸው አይመስለኝም። ሐውልት የቆመላቸውም ከሞቱ በኋላ ስም አጠራራቸው እንዳይጠፋ አንተ በጽሑፍህ እንዳሰፈርከው ለመታሰቢያ የተሠራላቸው ሐውልት ነው እንጂ እርሳቸው በሕይወት እያሉ ለመታሰቢያ የተደረገላቸው አይመስለኝም። አሁንም ከጽሑፍህ አባዛኛውን ያልተቀበልኩልህ የግለሰቦችን ሕጋዊ ያልሆነ አካሄድ ሕጋዊ አስመስለህ ስላቀረብከው ነው። ልጓም የሌለው እና ያልተገራ ፈረስ እንደሚያስቸግረው ሁሉ ይኼን የጥቅመኞች አካሄድ ልጓም ካልገባበት ምድሪቱ ሁሉ ሐውልት በሐውልት መሆኗ ነው። ሁሉ በሥርዓት ይሁን ከሚሉት ወገን ሆነን ቤተ ክርስቲያንን እንመልከታት እንጂ በፖለቲካ እይታ፣ በጥቅመኞች አካሄድ፣ በምንአለበት እና በማን አለብኝነት አይነት መሆን አይኖርበትም። ቅድም አገር እና ሃይማኖት ሊያጠፋ መጥቶ ስለነበረው ስለጣልያን ስጠቅስልህ በነበረው ዓይነት ኃይለሥላሴን እና ምኒልክን ቃኛቸው። ይኸ ምስላቸው በቤተ ክርስቲያን እንዲሳል ያስደረገው ምን እንደሆነ እና ቤተክርስቲያኒቱ እና ቅዱስ ሲኖዶሱ ለዚህ ነበራቸው አቋም እንዴት እንደነበር ሌሎች ይዘግቡታል ብዬ አስባለሁ። ይቆየን።

Try to be religious and see it from a non-racist perspective. Is it the time to raise past good and bad deeds to comment on this one? Let's say what you propose is genuine, can't you see the problem of all overspending problem in a poor country of ours?
