Peace to the world;
selam for both those who have peace in their hearts and those who have no peace in their hearts.
Let me say about the so-called "Muslim Fundamentalism" in Ethiopia.
Back to history dated before the Common Era, the people of Ethiopia did not have religion; they worshipped mainly the Sun though they did worship idols as well. Later Judaism introduced itself and then Christianity around 330 in the Common Era, 280 years later finally Islam came to Ethiopia around 600 Common Era.
What I'm ashamed of now a days is that seeing from some Ethiopian intellectuals wearing T-shirts having slogans like "Ethiopia is a Christian Island" and so on. If the standard is by age Ethiopia is a Jews Island, or if it's by the number of followers Ethiopia is Islamic Island. The Orthodox church, as a state, has been trading [trading in a sense playing games]throughout history with all citizens of the country. The Church, the Mosque and the Temple had to be separated from the State. Nevertheless, shameful for our Orthodox priests who mislead the believers throughout history have been governing the country as advisors or even minsters. The orthodox church had a horrendous effect for the backwardness of Ethiopia. It denied the introduction of technologies. Making of each 30 days of the month as holidays they forced the Christians not to produce any thing including the farmers: this is just a 40 years old history. Needless to say, the Orthodox church has never followed either the rules of the Bible or the Christianity doctrine but their own vines and desires to exploit the poor population. The poor have to work hard and pay to the Church; the poor have to feed the priests otherwise the dead won't be forgiven their sins. Remember a priest is sin forgiver they even act as God or sometimes as intermediaries between the sinners and God. According to the holy books, God never asks mediators I believer can contact God directly. Today the people are able to read the bible and understand and get their freedom of religion. Most embrace Islam and some convert to Protestantism that headaches the Orthodox officials, and as a result the Church is today highly corrupted, become a laboratory of slogans and an institution of hypocrisy, hatred and nepotism against primarily the Muslims and even non-Orthodox followers. Putting a big stick on the map of Ethiopia in the name of the Cross is too childish, fanatic stupidity, and of course it will never been a solution but causes destruction.
Thus, in the name of fundamentalism they run their businesses all over the world giving bad names to Muslims. This business is over from far.It did not work either for Bush administration.
Let's stop hatred and work something great to develop our country which will remain helpful for the later generation when we die.
A true believer of God never rejects Truth from God. Any intellectual never rejects truth regardless of its roots. Accept it or not,as a Muslim, I believe Ethiopia is a land of various religious groups. It doesn't seem I feel fear I concern whatever happens in my motherland; I'll die for it;if anyone transgress my response will be harsh. God calls [these people who themselves went astray and led the people astray they're like donkeys.
Every individual has grace from God for choices so one has to learn and choose what's best for himself or herself. Neither Aba Samuel nor Efrem eshete helps anyone who commits the sin but only God who watches over every one's actions. We do commit sins repent towards God.
May God grant peace to the world, a'min

Mr. Anonym,
take Ethiopian History 101 and get the real religious face of that country. Whether you bark recklessly or not, you can't rewrite history as it is something about past. If you are sick, go on writing your fiction.

u good for nothing.

Dear Mr./Miss/Mrs. reply:Anonymous,
I preferred not to call you with a beautiful Ethiopian word "bakt= በ ክ ት"; however, God is peace and love. I teach you peace and love as well even though you have a locked mind. If you close you're eyes and try to run or even walk you'll never reach anywhere but first of all you'll hurt yourself, then maybe others too.
Many thanks to God and my pure parents who taught me love, peace, truth. History passed whether bad or good, now it's dead. But it should be a lesson not to repeat itself in any form. We're in the 21st century; you're thinking in the 11th century European church minds, shameful 1000 years back.
God never divides land to Muslims and Christians, not even either for believers or non believers.
Land is for all God's creature. If you wanna be powerful and take the land by force or if you want to expel the indigenous dwellers try you'll be expelled. Crying from America won't help neither Ethiopian Orthodox nor Ethiopia. You better stop your poisonous tongues and call for peace.
I ask Allah to give you peace in your heart and have a human nature.

“For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus - and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.

“To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society’s ills on the West - know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.”

Barak Hussein Obama, the 44th President of the USA.

Unfortunately we are not peoples of change that is why we are still plowing with two oxen and one blade “it has been since our ancestors came into existence in that land. What makes those idiots better when their professors and intellectuals, assert similar statements their monks and church leaders are more fear full of losing ground to the protestant and surely badly bitten theological by Muslims and Muslims numbers are in fact its not a topic for discussion it the living reality so …simply they are reflecting their frustration.

Please change is in the corner just repeat the word one day it might get into your ear, brain, heart. You are the most hate mongers than anywhere on earth may Allah save us from this backwardness.

Teddy says:Yesterday, 8:25:30 PM“Even though i am evangelical christian, i am proud of my country's muslim heritage. I respect them and we should stop politicizing religion. Ethiopian muslims are by far the most righteous peace-loving muslims in the world. I am talking about Amhara/oromo/Tigre/Gurage muslims. I am not sure about Somali muslims who are too radical and seem to be dangerous at times. Let us all push for peace anyways. stop the groupings like uniting evangelicals with orthodox blah blah. we don't need dangerous childish games like these

I am wondering that muslims are talking about peace or is the teaching of islam different in ethiopia i do not think so. All your ancestors became muslim by force not knowing the truth & your role models like those of Bin-laden believe that the world should be muslim that is why they are not teaching the truth rather they want to recruit fundamentalists who bomb themselves & peaceful people.
But Almighty God will revenge those who are against Truth that is christianity.

Dear Mr./Miss/Mrs. Anonymous,

Thanks for your comment. But please do not reflect upon the propaganda that you have heard[may be via CNN,or some Churches,...]. God give rich mind to all humans; therefore, learn by yourself what Islam is and give judgment. "There's no compulsion in religion."[Qur'an Chapter 2:256]
I didn't inherit Islam but become a Muslim by understanding and my personal choice. Non of my forefathers were forced to be Muslims but their intellects or choices. Islam never spreads through war. At least 20,000 Americans embrace Islam every year; who fought them?
Historically, Christians and Jews were very respected, and they celebrated their religions freely during the Muslim rulers, to mention: Umar bin khatab who ruled Jerusalem, Muhammad bin Amir who ruled Romans, selah ed din al ayubi who finalized the Crusaders and ruled Jerusalem and also gave a land to Ethiopian Orthodox to build 2 churches in Jerusalem, and other leaders in Europe especially Spain. Nevertheless, to shameful Christian leaders who believe the land belongs to Christians only which is against God's command; they massacre a large number of Muslims in every part of the world.
Islam teaches there's no sin inherited from any body unless one's own sins as a result of his/her own actions. Every person will be questioned with his/her own deeds stated in the Qur'an; no one will take the burden of another. Thus it's once choice to be either a Hindu or a Christian or a Muslim or any other. One has choice as well not to believe in God. We all have one soul equally recognized by the Almighty God so should be respected one another. Propaganda, hatred, nepotism won't bring peace rather loss. To be honest there are Christian Fundamentalists in Ethiopia both in the Orthodox and Protestant religion but not in Islam.
You may ask me how I've documents published by both Churches in a written form and audio form. If these preachers continue the same way [developing hypocrisy, hatred, enmity, envy against the Muslims] we'll bring them to an international court in case of genocide. Because, Allah is peace; Allah loves peace. Islam is complete submission to peace.
For those who jumped up beyond tolerance we're always ready to die for both our country and our religion. We're not from Gaza We're true Ethiopians. We[Muslims] know and love our country more than any body else.
May Allah give guidance to those who went astray and give prosperity to our beloved land, aamin.

Hope all is well, and life is going smoothly for all of you.

May I remind you that one person is more than just a muslim or a christian. I'm a daughter, a sister, a friend, a student and an Ethiopian. I belief that most of you have atleast one common thing with me. Call me naive, focusing on that will take us a long way. So, when politician try to divide us based on our difference, we should always think about what we have in common. I have muslim and christian friends. Their is more to them than the cross that hangs on their necks or the 'hijab' that wraps their heads. I love them for who they are. They are what make my country what it is, and they are part of the dream I have for my country. Let us respect eachothers view and let be. I bet you, God or Allah would love to see us live in harmony!

I just wanted to leave you with something to think about. From what I have read, it appears that all of us love our country! I do not question anybody's patriotism. WE ALL LOVE OUR COUNTRY. PERIOD. So, what is your wish for this country you love? Do you want your children and grandchildren to inherit hatred and civil war? Do you want to see the images of people dying every time you google "ethiopia"? In a country where more than 80% of the population farm and yet can't feed the less than 20%, don't you think may be we should focus on how to change that?

P.S. There is NO problem in argument. But please do not get personal and attack one another. Attack ideas, not people!

Dear Unite,

amazing, I wish we have at least a few Ethiopians like you. I would like personally to thank you so much for your insightful advice. Great sister keep up! You explained it sufficiently.

You can always dream to sing Allah everywhere in the world, but Ethiopia belongs to Ethiopians who are praying day and night by their own language and their own written Alphabet. You may still continiue to sing your dream song in my country and dance in Mekka for your wage for a time. Is that not right? At last you will Trade Dogs not a country.
